The U.S. Embassy is aware of reports of gunfire in Bissau during the morning of Friday, December 1.  American citizens are strongly urged to shelter in place until the situation has stabilized.  Do not depart your current location and avoid all areas of crowds or the sounds of gunfire.

American citizens should remain vigilant and note that events can change quickly.  American citizens are urged to avoid any areas throughout Guinea Bissau where incidents of unrest, or reports of such incidents, are ongoing.

The U.S. Embassy will send updates as soon as we become aware of them.

Actions to take:

· Monitor local media for updates.

· Avoid crowds.

· Avoid demonstrations.

· Be aware of your surroundings.

· Exercise caution if unexpectedly in the vicinity of large gatherings or protests.
