The English Teaching Association of Guinea Bissau (ELTA) held its first-ever national English teacher convention with the help of an Embassy grant, the English Language Fellow and the new American Corner. One hundred and fifty teachers from all regions of Guinea Bissau attended the two-day convention, which consisted of presentations by the RELO, the Senegalese English teaching association representative, and multiple Bissau-Guinean teachers and teacher trainers. The convention is both the fruit of the Embassy’s three years of nurturing ELTA, and a launching point for another year of education outreach activities funded through the Embassy grant.
